The closer she got to him, the harder his heart pounded. It pounded so hard he could swear his heart would pop out from his chest.

"Hi," she said cordially.

"Hello," he replied a little shakingly, "I haven't seen you in quite some time."

"I know," she said. "But it's good to see you again. You look good."

"Thank you," he said. "How have you been?"

"I've been really well," she replied. "In fact, let me tell you my life has been fabulous. I found a man who is in a very high position at his company and he spoils me rotten. We just took a vacation to Tahiti."

"Oh…that's nice," He said. His eyes sank as she said that.

As she continued to talk about herself, he thought, "I went through all of this for her, only for her to spit it into my face." It was then he pondered maybe he was going about his life the wrong way. Looking back at his achievements and looking at where he started, he then realized he was chasing after love from someone he never had to begin with.

Although it was tragic to come to that conclusion, he also felt empowered knowing what he could accomplish if he put his mind to it. That moment was when he finally gained some self- respect.

Suddenly, her husband sees them talking from a distance and approaches. Turns out her husband is well acquainted with her former love interest.

"I didn't know you lived here," said her husband.

"Yeah, I just moved in; it's nice seeing you here," he replied.

"It's nice seeing you too," said her husband, "I didn't know you knew my wife."

"We were good friends a long time ago," he said. "But it's good to catch up again."

He heard the phone ring from his house, "Look, I have an important phone call, but it's nice to see you both."

He said his goodbyes and walked back inside.

Meanwhile, on the way back to their house, she asked her husband, "How do you know him?"
